Profile:
Our Shopper Bus Service is a “door to store” service for people with mobility problems who have difficulty using public transport and want to go to their local supermarket. People are collected from their homes by an accessible minibus and taken to their local supermarket for 1 ½ - 2 hours shopping and taken home. All shopper bus trips are charged at £3 each way or £6 return. If a carer is travelling with the passenger it is £1 each way. The service operates in Hertsmere, Welwyn Hatfield, Three Rivers and Watford.
Our community Car Scheme is for people who are unable to use public transport to get to community facilities or medical appointments. This may be because of mobility problems or other special needs. The car scheme operates across Hertsmere and Welwyn Hatfield. The service is charged at 60p per mile with a minimum charge of £5.00 for the first 8 miles. We have volunteers who use their own cars and the charges are to cover volunteer expenses. Folded wheelchairs can be taken in most cars, but passengers must be able to transfer from wheelchair to car.
Wheelchair accessible vehicles are available on request. These have space for one wheelchair user and up to three passengers. Carers welcome! Please call for more details.

Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Hire is available for groups either with or without a driver. Our minibuses are large enough to accommodate up to 16 passengers. Manual wheelchairs can be secured inside the bus, if the passenger is unable to transfer. The bus lowers at the back allowing those in wheelchairs to access the minibus via a ramp. There is pace for 2-4 wheelchair users who cannot transfer.
Cost: Mileage rate and minimum charge:
Community Car Scheme 60p per mile. Minimum charge £5.00 for the first 8 miles
Shopper Bus £6.00 return or £3.00 each way
Minibus Hire Rates available upon request
There is an annual membership fee of £10 to register for the shopper bus and community car scheme service.
